Exploration Four Evan Dias

Part one: One thing that really stood out to me was the amount of people killed during this protest. These were all teenage and young students that were protesting and after just two monte of this, about 7,000 people were killed. This is insane how everything turned into chaos so quick after it all started. People were being raped tortured and murdered all because these students wanted a democracy.

Part two:

Just of a few of the thousands of protestors that were murdered by the soldiers. These students were murdered in Tiananmen square for standing up for what they believe in.

These young protestors hold up their phones to show how they all can stay connected through technology and social media. This is one big advantage that is helping out the protestors of Hong Kong.

  1. Evan,

Your first picture is very powerful. I like the way you focus on the fact that out of the estimated 7,00 killed, most of them were young students.

  2. The photo you used on the student protestors hold up the cell phone was one that caught my eye as well. I think one website I went to called it "their beacon of hope." I also thought that the amounts of people killed was an insane number, especially because it started out as just a protest. I would be fearful to protest in China now if I were the student protestors, given the history.

  3. Even, I really like your second picture of the people in Hong Kong. I picked something very similar to yours because I felt the picture captured a lot of emotion and detail. It's almost as you an feel how the people in Hong Kong are feeling. Nice pictures!

  4. I liked the second picture you used of the students. In order for them to stay connected and direct where protests will be they have to communicate on certain chat sites. The use of technology has helped them to continue the protests and spread their message.

  5. I really like the picture you put up about Tienanmen Square. It clearly shows the grotesque and immoral acts of the Chinese government. It also shows that people are willing to die for what they believe in.

  6. Yeah I too was shocked at how much life had been lost during the the protest and that the government just tried to make everyone forget about it

  7. I find it crazy that the government used lethal forces on its people that were just fighting for what they believed in and were doing it peacefully. The amount of deaths and arrest that day is crazy. If that happened here in the US I feel there would be alot of people fighting back.

  8. Evan, I really loved both of your pictures. The first one is saddening because of the amount of people dying and the second just shows how people can stay connected even earn the government doesn't want you to.
