Exploration 4

Part One:

Something that stuck me while reading up on the event was that I thought it was very interesting that there were no accurate records of precisely how many casualties there really were. The government went as far as to try and cover up the massacre that took place in Tiananmen Square. To me, it is frightening knowing what people with power can accomplish. The fact that at it's peak, a protest that  rallied together approximately one million civilians, says that not just "some" people were a little more than unhappy with their government. Yet, it was government mandated that there would be no remembrances and the day should be "forgotten."

Part Two:
How many government officials does it take to cover up a massacre?
Million's of unsatisfied civilians gather in Tiananmen Square, only to realize their voice is heard but not respected.

  1. Kyle, I really like your first picture you chose about the government hiding the massacre. I agree that because China has such a communist government they do chose to hide key points that no one will ever know about. I feel a lot of government officials do that. Really nice picture!

  2. What honestly drew me to your post was the first picture. I feel like that picture was the perfect depiction after the research i did. There literally could not have been a better picture or caption for this Awesome job and the rest was good too.

  3. I don't understand how there could be no records for such a horrific event. This was a significant in the Chinese history and i think that government should learn from their mistake from back then and then connect to today. times have changed the people of Hong Kong want their democracy.
I really like the first picture because that perfectly describes the governments actions to cover it up make it seem as if it didn't happen.

  4. When you said that it is amazing how much people in power can accomplish, it makes me fear for the current Hong Kong protestors. All it takes is for one person in power, without necessary checks and balances, to put an end to perfectly peaceful and democratic rally to an end. Thankfully, with social media, the whole world will hold China accountable for its actions.

  5. I really like your first picture and the caption you gave it. It shows how the Chinese government is keeping information from its citizens like the death toll that occurred from Tiananmen Square in 1989. The death toll ranged from a few hundred to a few thousand, the fact that we don't truly know how many peoples lives were taken is horrifying.
